Bridal Hair and Makeup FAQs — Cape Town
Quick, honest answers to the questions brides (and bookers) actually ask. For service overviews, start with makeup artist Cape Town, bridal packages & pricing or bridal trials.
Pricing & packages
What is the booking fee, and when is the balance due?
A R500 booking fee secures your wedding date — bookings are only confirmed once it reflects. Use your name and wedding date as the payment reference and email proof of payment. The remaining balance is due on or before the wedding day.
How is travel charged for venues outside Cape Town?
Every bridal package includes 50 km of round-trip travel. Venues beyond that — deeper into the Winelands, the Overberg or up the West Coast — are charged per kilometre. Corporate call-outs are R500 plus R4 per kilometre.
Can a second artist help with a large bridal party?
Yes. For larger bridal parties where extra timing support is needed, a second professional artist can be arranged for R1 500, in addition to the per-person service fees, so the morning runs smoothly and on schedule.
Is there a more affordable option for a small wedding?
Yes — the weekday and intimate wedding package is R3 200 for bridal hair and makeup on the day (Monday to Friday), with on-location service and 50 km of travel included. A trial can be added if required. See the bridal packages page for everything included.
Bridal trials
What actually happens at a bridal trial?
Your trial is a dedicated consultation and styling session at Iza’s private studio in Pinehurst, Durbanville, where your full look is designed and refined — hair, makeup, and how it photographs. A combined hair and makeup trial takes about three hours; single-service trials take around 90 minutes. Full details are on the bridal trials page.
Can I have my trial after working hours?
Standard trial slots are weekday mornings between 09:00 and 12:00, because weekends are reserved for weddings. Limited after-hours weekday appointments can be arranged for an additional R750.
Do I need to confirm my trial appointment?
Yes — please make contact on the Monday before your trial to confirm the date and time.
The wedding morning
How long should we allow for wedding-morning hair and makeup?
As a rule of thumb, allow about an hour and a half for the bride and roughly an hour per additional person. The schedule is built with you in advance, working back from your ceremony and photography times, so nobody is rushed.
What information is needed before the wedding day?
Your wedding date, ceremony time, venue, getting-ready location, number of bridal party members needing services, your photographer, the bride’s contact number, an alternative contact for the day, and how you heard about Iza.
Where does my bridal party get ready?
All bridal party hair and makeup happens at the same venue as the bride, so the morning stays relaxed, social and on schedule.
Destination weddings & elopements
Do you work with couples travelling from overseas?
Yes — Iza regularly works with brides travelling from Germany, the UK, Europe and the United States to elope in Cape Town. Everything can be planned via consultation from abroad, with or without a trial. Destination elopement hair and makeup starts from R4 500 — see the elopement page.
When is peak wedding season in Cape Town?
September to April. Popular Saturday dates in season are often booked six to twelve months out; midweek weddings, elopements and shoots can usually be accommodated on shorter notice.
Corporate, matric farewells & shoots
Do you do corporate and headshot makeup?
Yes — corporate makeup is R850 per person at the Durbanville studio, or R1 300 with light hair styling, and Iza travels to offices for team shoots (R500 call-out plus R4/km), Monday to Friday. Details on the corporate page.
Do you do hair and makeup for matric farewells?
Absolutely — matric farewell hair and makeup is one of Iza’s favourite bookings of the year. See the lifestyle page for examples.
Do you do makeup for photoshoots?
Yes — lifestyle, editorial and personal-branding shoots, at the studio or on location. Examples are on the lifestyle page.
Policies & practical details
Is the booking fee refundable?
Booking fees are non-refundable, and cancellations made within 90 days of the wedding may be subject to additional fees. Full terms are on the booking information page.
What happens if Iza is ill on my wedding day?
In the unlikely event of illness or emergency, every effort is made to secure a suitable replacement artist. Liability is limited to the return of payments received.
I have sensitive skin or allergies — what should I do?
Let Iza know in advance of any allergies or sensitivities. Professional products are used throughout, and the trial is the ideal place to test how your skin responds.
Will my wedding photos be used online?
Professional wedding photographs featuring Iza’s hair and makeup work may be used for portfolio, website and marketing purposes unless otherwise agreed in writing. Where work is published externally, a credit with a link back is kindly requested.
Can I pay from an international bank account?
Yes — banking details (FNB) are provided at booking; please make provision for international banking costs so the full amount reflects.
