This privacy policy explains how Iza Cloete (operating as Iza Cloete Hair and Makeup, based in Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa) collects, uses and protects the personal information of clients and visitors to izacloete.co.za. We comply with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and we apply the same principles for clients located in the European Union (GDPR) and elsewhere.

What information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us when you enquire, book or correspond with us, plus a small amount of standard technical data when you visit the site.

  • Booking and enquiry information: name, email address, phone number, wedding or event date, venue, time, party size, photographer, contact for the day, payment reference and any preferences or notes you share with us.
  • Payment information: we record the date and reference of payments received via EFT into our business bank account. We do not collect or store credit card numbers, online banking credentials or any other payment account details on this website.
  • Website technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time of visit) collected by our hosting provider for security and performance, and cookies set by our caching plugin (AccelerateWP) and the Google Reviews widget on our site.

How we use your information

  • To answer your enquiry, confirm your booking and plan the wedding-morning or shoot.
  • To send you reminders, trial details, payment receipts and any updates relevant to your booking.
  • To keep accounting records as required by South African tax law.
  • To improve the website and protect it from abuse.

We do not sell your information, we do not share it with third-party advertisers, and we do not use it for marketing without your express consent.

Photographs and portfolio use

Images of completed bridal, lifestyle or corporate work are sometimes shared in our online portfolio, on social media and in marketing material. If you would prefer your wedding or shoot images not be used in this way, please let us know in writing before the day or as soon as possible afterwards. We will respect your preference without question.

Who we share your information with

  • Hosting provider: stores the website and any submissions you make through it. Server logs are kept for security and performance.
  • Email provider: messages you send to info@izacloete.co.za pass through our email infrastructure.
  • Trustindex: powers the Google reviews widget that appears on our site. Their privacy policy is available at trustindex.io.
  • Photographers and venues you have booked: we share wedding-morning timing details with the people you have asked us to coordinate with.
  • SARS and statutory authorities: where the law requires us to.

We do not transfer your data outside of South Africa unless it is necessary for the service you have asked us to provide (for example, if your photographer is based outside South Africa). Where we do, we use providers that meet recognised data-protection standards.

How long we keep your information

Booking, enquiry and payment records are kept for the duration of our engagement and for the periods required by South African tax and accounting law (typically five years). Email correspondence is kept for as long as we may reasonably need it, and is deleted on request.

Cookies

Our caching plugin sets a small number of technical cookies that are required to deliver the site quickly. The Google Reviews widget on our site may set additional third-party cookies when it loads. We do not run advertising trackers, conversion pixels or marketing cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser if you prefer.

Your rights

Under POPIA (and GDPR if applicable to you), you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate.
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.
  • Object to or withdraw consent for any processing where consent is the basis (for example, portfolio use of images).
  • Lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

Security

The website is served over HTTPS. Bookings and correspondence are stored on systems we control or trust. We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe but no system can be guaranteed against every form of intrusion.
